Blogging a bit erratic due to no signal when I had time & no time when I had signal!
So - anyway, just completed day 2 - Lostwithiel to Exeter. Apparently the hardest day! Many many sharp steep climbs - and some long ones! Checked in the hotel at 3 & just been for a wander & a beer with Phil who I seem to have buddied up with, a 61 yr old no less, & I can't match him on the hills!

pic is crossing river Tamar today.
In reverse date order:
Day 1. Penzance to Lostwithiel.
Left Penzance in the rain, turned out fine & managed to drop in on old friends in St Austell on the way.

Day 0. Travel to Penzance
train was a bit of a mare - the change at Plymouth resulted in there not being enough space for the six of us who met on the platform, on the train to Penzance -so we were a bit late arriving & a quick sprint to Lands End for the group photo (& back to Penzance via the pictureque coastal route.

Day -2
Just been for my last short training ride around Windsor great park, 10 mins from my house, the sun is shining & it reminds me just why I'm doing this ride - To appreciate this green & pleasant country we live in. A beautiful place!
Last inspection of the bike revealed a big cut in rear tyre, so off to the local Stow's bike shop again for more bits!
Couple of pints down the pub to finish the day with my son, before last tweaking of the bike tomorrow & packing all my gear.

Hi All,
Thanks for lookin' at my blog - this is for my family & friends (& kids, so no rude comments please! :) - who wish to follow my progress with the CTC's Lands End to John O'Groats group ride 2010.
Start date of 15th May is rapidly approaching, & I'm nowhere near ready! in organisation (or in fitness!, due to the uninspiring weather this year) but I'd better be by Friday or it's too late!
This is just really a test post - as I've never blogged before - but until I start to send some reports of the ride, I'd just like to send my love to my kids: Shaun, Jade & Christie - me ol' Mum (Alice) - my closest family: bruvvers John, Dave & Pete & respective sister-in-laws, nephews & neices - last, but not least, my partner & better half Sue (& her two sons) - Oh and of course, my group of great friends, old & new, too long to list (incl. my cycle bash mates who maybe the only ones to follow this......!)
Cheers all - & I'll be ready for beer when I get back!
Chris.
